PLATFORM

I believe we must make a better school for a better tomorrow. We must give our students the skills to be ready for life after school. Whether they are attending college, trade schools, or, entering the job market, we want them to shine.

I hope you’ll support me in my running for Los Banos Board of Education, Area 6.

Teachers & Staff

In the past four years, I have come to have a deeper understanding of what teachers and staff must do everyday.  I am so impressed with how creative our teachers are, creating fun and interesting lessons to keep students engaged.  I have a great deal of respect for the staff in our community, classified and certificated, who all work closely together to make sure our students shine.

Facilities

I have spent the last four years serving on the board Facilities Committee.  In that time, I chaired the Measure X effort, organizing volunteers and calling community members.  With the successful passing of Measure X, we have been able to build a much needed new Elementary School, Grasslands, as well as make needed updates to current facilities.

Test Scores

Test scores are an area we continue to strive to give students more opportunities to be successful. We are always introducing new programs to support this goal, and I support the teachers and principals in their efforts.  We have many innovative educators in our district who have found creative and effective ways to increase their test scores and we are continually inspired by these new ideas that enable us to offer a variety of ways to impart the knowledge needed to do well on these state tests.  We continue to work towards improving scores even more.

Ensuring Students Are Ready for the World

Preparing our students for the real world is the whole point of what we do, and we are continually redefining what career and/or college readiness means.  Technology literacy is paramount for any student’s future, whether they are college bound or not. We currently have several wonderful programs available for those students who intend to enter the work force after high school, but I would like to keep expanding on those programs, perhaps by adding mentorship programs with businesses in our community.
